The End of an Era: Apple Discontinues the Mac Pro
Apple's most expensive workstation, the iconic 'cheese grater' Mac Pro, has been removed from the company's official website.

The most expensive Mac in Apple's lineup is no longer available. As reported by 9to5Mac, the 'cheese grater' Mac Pro workstation has been officially discontinued. The device had been a staple of the lineup since 2006, when it replaced the Power Mac G5 during Apple's historic shift from PowerPC to Intel processors.
The Mac Pro has increasingly felt like a vestigial limb since Apple transitioned from Intel to its proprietary M-series silicon. Although the M2 Ultra edition was launched three years ago to bridge the gap for high-end users, its place in the current ecosystem has become uncertain.
During its tenure, Apple hardware executive John Ternus noted that the Mac Pro was designed for users requiring internal expansion, combining PCIe slots with the company's most powerful chips. With its removal from the store, Apple appears to be moving away from this classic workstation architecture.
