Reddit to Require Human Verification for 'Fishy' Accounts
Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced that accounts showing automated behavior must prove they are human to combat the rise of AI-driven bots.

Reddit is stepping up its efforts to maintain authentic interactions on its platform. CEO Steve Huffman announced today that accounts exhibiting 'automated or otherwise fishy behavior' will now be required to verify that they are operated by a human.
The move is a direct response to the increasing presence of AI bots across the internet. 'As AI becomes a bigger part of the Internet, we want to make sure that when you’re on Reddit, you know when you’re talking to a person and when you’re not,' Huffman stated in a recent post.
According to the company, human verification will only be triggered if Reddit suspects an account is a bot. Huffman emphasized that this will be a 'rare' occurrence and won't affect the vast majority of users. However, accounts that fail to prove their human status may face restrictions on the platform.
