The Elden Ring movie finally has an official release date and a full cast announced. The live-action adaptation, directed by Alex Garland, will hit theaters on March 3, 2028. Production is already underway, and the film will be released in IMAX format, according to A24, the studio behind the project.

The main cast includes Cailee Spaeny, known for Alien: Romulus and Civil War; Ben Whishaw, who played Q in James Bond films and voices Paddington; and Nick Offerman, famous for Parks and Recreation and The Last of Us. While the characters they portray remain unannounced, fans speculate Offerman might spend the entire film with a pot on his head, adding a humorous touch.

The rest of the cast features Kit Connor, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz. The film is created under the guidance of Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's creator, and based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin, author of Game of Thrones.

This month, leaks from the set surfaced, showing fans images of a statue of Marika and pylons from Limgrave, fueling excitement among the community. In 2022, Garland revealed he had drafted a 160-page script and traveled to Japan to pitch the project to FromSoftware, showing his deep familiarity with Elden Ring's universe.

The director has shared that Elden Ring is one of his favorite games, and he has played it multiple times, facing tough bosses like Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Garland explained that his approach to overcoming these challenges is to keep trying, similar to Dark Souls, without giving up.
