Ryan Reynolds Says Deadpool Might Join Teams in Future Films
Reynolds revealed that his vision for Deadpool is evolving, and the character could appear in a team rather than solo movies.

Ryan Reynolds discussed the future of his beloved Marvel character, Deadpool, and hinted that the next film might look quite different. After the massive success of 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine," which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, a new installment seems likely. However, no concrete plans have been announced, and Reynolds hasn't confirmed his involvement in the upcoming Avengers film, which is expected to be more serious and somber.
Over the past year, Reynolds mentioned he has been developing an idea for an ensemble movie featuring multiple characters, possibly including X-Men members. He admitted that he has only been working on this idea privately and hasn't pitched it to Marvel yet, as the company is busy rebooting the X-Men franchise. In a recent interview with Today, Reynolds went further and said he's moved on from making solo Deadpool movies. "I have some scripts written, but I don't think I will ever focus on him alone again. He's better suited as a supporting character in a group," he explained.
Reynolds has previously expressed interest in seeing Deadpool join the Avengers or X-Men teams, but also felt that doing so might diminish the character’s unique identity. To him, integrating Deadpool into a team could feel like "the end of his journey." Now, it seems more likely that Deadpool will appear alongside X-Force or X-Men members in their own stories, without necessarily being part of the X-Men reboot, which aims for a fresh cast and a more youthful vibe.
What remains uncertain is who will be part of these teams, especially with the upcoming "Avengers: Doomsday" and the potential changes after "Avengers: Secret Wars" in 2027. Marvel has confirmed that "Secret Wars" will act as a kind of reset for the universe, introducing new versions of classic characters and integrating surviving heroes from previous eras.
