Musk’s attempt to settle OpenAI lawsuit fails amid tense messages
Elon Musk reached out to settle his lawsuit against OpenAI days before the trial, but was rejected, revealing rising tensions.

Just days before the trial began, Elon Musk tried to settle his lawsuit against OpenAI. The case alleges that under Sam Altman’s leadership, OpenAI abandoned its original mission as a nonprofit aimed at benefiting humanity with AI. According to a court filing on Sunday, Musk messaged OpenAI President Greg Brockman two days prior to the trial to explore a possible settlement. Brockman responded quickly, suggesting that both sides drop their claims. Musk refused and responded with a message so threatening that the court might allow Brockman to testify about it, as evidence of Musk’s true motives for pursuing the case. Musk’s reply was: “By the end of this week, you and Sam will be the most hated men in America.” When Brockman proposed dropping the claims, Musk responded: “If you insist, so it will be.” This exchange highlights the escalating tensions and the deep conflict behind the legal battle, exposing Musk’s firm stance against OpenAI and the complex relationship between the two parties.
