Microsoft has confirmed plans to incorporate advanced AI models, including Anthropic's Claude Mythos Preview, into its Azure cybersecurity system by 2026. This move aims to enhance protection against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks worldwide. The collaboration seeks to leverage Mythos to identify and fix vulnerabilities early in the software development process, strengthening critical infrastructure security.

The partnership between Microsoft and Anthropic positions Mythos as a vital part of the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL). Introduced in April, this model has helped detect thousands of vulnerabilities across operating systems, browsers, and applications. According to Reuters, Mythos shows an unusual ability to identify weaknesses and develop strategies for exploitation, broadening the scope of risks and solutions in large tech infrastructures.

Currently, Mythos is in testing under the Glasswing project, involving companies like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft. During these trials, the AI has successfully identified and exploited vulnerabilities in major operating systems and web browsers, even creating malicious code that combines multiple security flaws. This demonstrates its potential but also raises concerns about misuse if not properly controlled.

Anthropic is limiting access to Mythos and establishing control mechanisms to ensure responsible use. The security review is crucial because the technology has already been involved in real cyberattacks, such as a hacker using AI tools to breach government systems in Mexico. The tech community remains attentive to how Mythos evolves and its impact on digital security.
