ShinyHunters Leaks Rockstar Games Financial Data; GTA 6 Remains Untouched
The hacking group ShinyHunters exposed Rockstar Games' financial information after their demands went unmet. The leak details GTA Online earnings but does not include GTA 6 source code.

ShinyHunters, the notorious hacking group, leaked financial data belonging to Rockstar Games. This action followed the company's failure to meet their demands by April 14. The information appeared on the group's dark web website. This incident exposes sensitive economic details, yet "Grand Theft Auto 6" assets appear secure.
The group denied earlier reports claiming they sold this data for $200,000 on X. "Your Snowflake instances metrics data was compromised thanks to Anodot.com," ShinyHunters stated in their message. "We do not operate a Telegram channel and this data was never for sale as reported. It is now leaked. How does it feel to be the headline?"
The leaked data includes financial details for "Grand Theft Auto" and "Red Dead Redemption" online modes. It also specifies spending data across various countries. A Kotaku report suggests "GTA Online" generates over $1 million daily. Importantly, this information does not contain "GTA 6" source code or other upcoming game assets.

ShinyHunters managed to breach Rockstar's defenses by exploiting a vulnerability in Anodot. Anodot is an AI analytics tool widely used by various companies. The hacking group initially demanded Rockstar contact them by April 14 to prevent the data's publication.
Rockstar Games released a statement on the same day as the initial hack. The company confirmed "a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed." They asserted, "This incident has no impact on our organization or our players." The community remains vigilant as the situation develops.
