The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced new rules regarding artificial intelligence, aiming to protect the integrity of the Oscars. The first rule states that acting roles eligible for nominations must be clearly performed by humans with their consent. This means AI-generated digital actors cannot compete in the acting categories.

Additionally, regarding screenplays, the Academy clarified that only scripts written by humans will be eligible. Scripts created entirely or partially by AI will not qualify for nominations or awards.

These decisions reflect growing industry concerns about AI's impact on creativity and artistic work. The move aims to safeguard human creators and maintain authenticity in traditional film categories.

This update comes at a time when AI is increasingly involved in film production. However, the Academy emphasized that, for now, AI participation in acting and writing categories will not be recognized in the awards.

This sets an important precedent for the industry, which continues to debate how to incorporate AI without devaluing human effort. The decision seeks to balance technological innovation with ethical considerations in the race for Hollywood's top honors.
