Warner Bros. Games has unveiled a new Batman suit in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. This version draws from "Gotham by Gaslight", the 1989 steampunk-themed Elseworlds comic. The LEGO take keeps the Victorian aesthetic but adapts it with the franchise's signature playful tone. The reveal comes ahead of the game's full launch on May 22.

The original "Gotham by Gaslight" comic reimagined Batman in 1889, pitting him against Jack the Ripper in a gaslit, industrial Gotham City. While the source material is dark and atmospheric, the LEGO version retains key visual elements with brighter colors and exaggerated proportions. The suit features a long coat, leather boots, a vintage explorer's hat, and aged metal details. All are stylized to fit the LEGO universe without losing their identity.

This suit is part of a broader effort to include iconic Batman eras across decades of media. From the 1960s TV series to modern films, the game celebrates the character's evolution. The Gotham by Gaslight design stands out for its unique blend of historical fiction and superhero mythos. Fans have long requested it, making its inclusion a highlight of the game's roster.

Players can unlock the suit through story progression or specific in-game challenges. It's available in the base game, with no extra purchases required. The outfit also introduces unique animations that match its Victorian theme. These subtle changes enhance immersion while keeping gameplay smooth and responsive.

"The variety of suits in Legacy of the Dark Knight reflects the depth of Batman's legacy", said a developer on the project.

Each design honors its source while fitting the LEGO tone. This balance allows both newcomers and longtime fans to connect with the character in new ways.

The game launches on all platforms May 22. PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions will include the suit from day one. Early previews praise the combat flow, visual fidelity, and signature LEGO humor. With this release, Warner Bros. Games reaffirms its focus on diverse, accessible storytelling.
