YouTube Integrates Image Posts and Carousels into the Shorts Feed
The video platform is testing a new feature for creators to display their visual posts directly within the Shorts space. This aims to boost interaction and content visibility.

YouTube is rolling out a new test allowing creators to display their image posts and carousels directly within the Shorts feed. This initiative seeks to generate greater engagement and connect more effectively with the global audience. It marks a significant step towards diversifying available content formats.
This new development means that channels' visual posts will now appear alongside short-form videos. Subscribers and new users will be able to discover this content in a more integrated manner. The platform aims to optimize the visibility of all shared material.
Creators have the option to include up to ten images in a single carousel. Additionally, they can add text overlays directly onto the images. For the audio background, it is possible to add royalty-free music from the YouTube Audio Library or even generate a soundtrack with Dream Track, an AI tool for creating music.
YouTube considers this update the first of many that will expand the posts format. The primary goal is to help channels connect with their audience in new places. It also aims to attract people who are not yet familiar with a creator's content.
We are experimenting with displaying image posts and carousels in the Shorts feed to help you connect with your audience in a new place and with new formats.
This experiment is being rolled out globally on the YouTube mobile app. It represents a great opportunity for creators who might not upload many Shorts. With a well-designed image carousel, they can gain greater attention and reach more people.
This test joins other recent platform innovations. For instance, last month saw the introduction of video previews, similar to those offered by Netflix. These showcase highlight moments of content directly within the Android app, facilitating discovery.
