Masters of the Universe: exclusive CinemaCon footage revealed
Amazon and Mattel screened 20 minutes of "Masters of the Universe" at CinemaCon. Director Travis Knight and stars Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes introduced key scenes reimagining He-Man's origin.

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel unveiled exclusive footage from "Masters of the Universe" ahead of their CinemaCon presentation. Director Travis Knight and stars Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes introduced three scenes totaling about 20 minutes of footage.
"If you watch the Filmation cartoon, you know the pattern: Skeletor schemes, fails, and promises to return. We asked, what if he actually won? That’s where our movie begins", Knight said before the screening.
The first sequence shows Skeletor, played by Jared Leto, leading his forces into the capital city of Eternos. Duncan, aka Man-at-Arms (Idris Elba), escorts King Randor (James Purefoy), Queen Marlena (Charlotte Riley), and young Prince Adam through the palace. They’re intercepted by Trap Jaw and henchmen.
Man-at-Arms holds off the attackers but is overwhelmed when Skeletor’s full army arrives. Skeletor captures Randor but lets Marlena and Adam escape. Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie) arrives as Skeletor delivers a dramatic victory speech — then grows annoyed when his troops don’t react on cue.
The second scene jumps 15 years. Adam, now grown, lives on Earth without his sword. He finally retrieves it, only to be arrested moments later. Trapped in a police car during a traffic jam, he sees civilians fleeing as Beast Man charges across the vehicles toward him.
Beast Man smashes the car, throws Adam off the overpass, and beats him until Teela (Camila Mendes) intervenes with a powerful blast. She’s come to bring him back to Eternia. The final scene shows Adam, Teela, and Man-at-Arms fending off Trap Jaw and his forces on a bridge in Eternia.
"This story doesn’t start with the hero ready to win. It starts with defeat. And from there, a new myth begins", Knight emphasized during the presentation.
