Charles Dance in Talks to Join "The Batman Part II" as Harvey Dent's Father
Acclaimed actor Charles Dance is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of "The Batman Part II," potentially portraying Harvey Dent's enigmatic father. His involvement could add significant depth to Gotham's lore.

Acclaimed actor Charles Dance, widely known for his role as Tywin Lannister in "Game of Thrones," is reportedly in negotiations to join "The Batman Part II." Deadline broke the news today, indicating Dance might portray Charles Dent, the father of Harvey Dent. This potential casting promises a crucial new layer to the Two-Face narrative within Matt Reeves' universe.
Dance has a proven track record of embodying complex, often stern, paternal figures. His portrayal of Tywin Lannister cemented his reputation among fantasy fans worldwide. His extensive filmography also includes notable roles in films like "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," "The First Omen," and Guillermo del Toro's upcoming "Frankenstein."
Charles Dent, sometimes referred to as Christopher Dent in comic iterations, remains a relatively obscure character in DC lore. He is known as Harvey's "not-so-loving father," adding a layer of complexity to his backstory. This offers "The Batman Part II" team considerable creative freedom to develop a fresh perspective on his character on the big screen.
Should his participation be confirmed, Dance would join an already stellar cast. Sebastian Stan was confirmed as Harvey Dent back in January, and Scarlett Johansson joined the sequel in December, expected to play Harvey's wife. This expanding Dent family strongly suggests Harvey's eventual villainous transformation into the iconic Two-Face.
The film will also feature the return of key figures from the first installment. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return as the Joker, hinting at more intense encounters in Gotham.
Matt Reeves returns as director and writer for this highly anticipated sequel, scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. Pattinson described the script as "extraordinary" and "very, very different" from the first film. The actor shared that it’s going to be "a really, really, really special movie."
It’s going to be a really, really, really special movie.
The fan community can anticipate a bold and surprising cinematic experience that will further expand Batman's dark and realistic universe.
