Netflix confirms 'La Casa de Papel' return with new project
After 'Berlín and the Lady of the Ermine' ended, the iconic series surprises fans with a new installment.

The phenomenon of La Casa de Papel is about to return to Netflix. The Spanish series, which concluded five years ago, keeps its story alive through franchises and spin-offs. Expectations grew even more after Berlín season 2, released recently in Seville. There, it was confirmed that actor Pedro Alonso will say goodbye forever to his character after a decade, leaving the future of the saga uncertain.
But Netflix surprised everyone with an unexpected announcement. A boat filled with people dressed in red jumpsuits and Dalí masks crossed the Guadalquivir River, accompanied by the song Bella Ciao. This scene confirmed that the stories of La Casa de Papel do not end with Berlín season 2. A teaser revealed that the universe continues, with the phrase: "the stories of La Casa de Papel do not end".
"The revolution never ends," the teaser states, also revealing that the franchise keeps growing and surprising its community.
In the teaser description, Netflix explained that the universe of La Casa de Papel started with a perfect heist and now evolves with new stories. From the first robbery to the gold heist at the Bank of Spain, the saga has expanded, but always with the same idea: the revolution never ends.
Details about the next installment are still unclear. Some sources suggest it might focus on the police operation led by Colonel Tamayo, while rumors point to a prequel about El Profesor, who returned in Berlín with a cameo. Actor Álvaro Morte left open the possibility of returning to the character if asked, fueling expectations.
What is certain is that the series will return. Fans will have to wait for official announcements, likely in the coming weeks, especially before Berlín season 2 premieres on May 15 on Netflix.
