The Westeros universe expands with a new film focusing on the first Targaryen king. Warner Bros. confirmed the provisional title and a release window.

The Westeros universe is preparing for a new cinematic expansion. Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed the provisional title for the anticipated Game of Thrones movie during its CinemaCon presentation, also revealing a potential release window. This new film promises to immerse us in the foundational history of the Targaryen dynasty, a crucial event for the saga.
The news emerged at the recent CinemaCon, where Warner Bros. executives Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy shared the company's future plans. A key slide showed the film will carry the provisional title of “Aegon’s Conquest”, a name that deeply resonates with the history of the Seven Kingdoms. This announcement generated significant excitement among the fan community.
In addition to the title, the presentation indicated the film would be released in “2027 and beyond.” This means audiences will have a considerable wait before seeing it on the big screen. Although the title is provisional, “Aegon’s Conquest” perfectly fits the narrative expected to unfold, anticipating a large-scale production.
The plot of “Aegon’s Conquest” will center on Aegon I Targaryen, the first king of the Seven Kingdoms. This legendary figure, alongside his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys, embarked on a mission to unify Westeros under his rule. To achieve this, they utilized the devastating power of their three dragons: Balerion, Meraxes, and Vhagar, confronting enemy forces with fire and blood.

Beau Willimon, renowned for his work as showrunner on “House of Cards” and co-writer of “Andor,” will be responsible for scripting this ambitious project. The original Game of Thrones series, based on the “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga, concluded in 2019. The fan community can expect a future filled with dragons, epic battles, and complex political intrigues.
